THE LECTURE THAT NEVER CAME

 The Lecture That Never Came

It was supposed to be a long, dragging afternoon. The kind where the sun hits the classroom windows just right, making everyone sleepy before the lecture even begins. Students shuffled in, notebooks out, some already halfway through their snacks. The topic? Something about microeconomics—important, but not exactly thrilling.

Then came the moment.

Five minutes passed. Ten. No footsteps. No voice echoing down the corridor. Just silence... and then whispers.

“Is he coming?”

“Maybe he’s stuck in traffic.”

“Guys, check the WhatsApp group!”

And just like that, the mood shifted. Eyes lit up. Phones came out—not for notes, but for memes. Someone played music softly from their speaker. A few students started debating Rashley’s latest track, while others plotted a quick trip to the nearby chips stand.

It wasn’t just relief—it was joy. A rare, unexpected freedom. For a moment, the classroom became theirs. No pressure, no PowerPoint slides, just laughter and lightness.

Of course, the lecturer would reschedule. The topic would return. But that one missed lecture? It became a memory. A tiny rebellion. A reminder that sometimes, the best lessons come when no one’s teaching.
